Jon Stewart Uses CBC To Demolish BS re. Tax Treatment of Rich & Poor

Here @3.20 mark. I'm surprised CBC hasn't been making more of its new hip fame, esp. The Lang and O'Leary Exchange. Stewart's point has also just been made by the a guy I really despise, genuinely, a crazy evil sicko, but who, all the same, correctly pointed out a few days ago how ridiculous the argument about "non-taxpayers" is, that 42% of Quebeckers may not pay any net income tax, but that's lower than the USA's 45%, and West's 43%, and of course, it is even more ridiculous than that, since all the supposed non-taxpayers of course pay a huge percentage of their income in indirect taxation, sales taxes, excise, hydro, etc.etc., so much so, that they are often taxed more, as a share of their income, than those wealthier than them. And that we are talking about seniors on fixed incomes, the disabled, the poorest of the poor, and the working and lower-middle classes. Meanwhile, Exxon pays NOTHING. Meanwhile, stock options are barely taxed, meaning super-rich often paying lower effective tax rates than the poor and working classes. BS.

C'mon CBC, stand proud: You're Hip!
