Ahmed Rami interview - Report from Tehran and the Holy City of Qum

"There are elements in Iran who seek to undermine the Islamic system and the anti-Zionist stance, and they receive support from the U.S. and Israel. I do not regard these elements as an "opposition" because they are controlled by foreign, hostile interests. The 'opposition' is not against the government in Iran, it is against Iran."

Ahmed Rami at the Mosque in the Holy City of Qum

Interview by Mohamed Omar

MO: What was the purpose of your journey to Tehran?

AR: I am a member of the Board of an international organization for Islamic radio stations. The journalists attending the meetings came from Pakistan, the Arab world, Malaysia and so on. We were gathering in conjunction with the exhibition held about the  Koran, which was very interesting.

Furthermore it is important to bring together the media from the Islamic world to discuss strategies. How we will meet the continued Zionist disinformation? There is only one way as I see it: With the correct information.

I made several appearances during the conference. In all I made the Palestinian issue a central subject. Of course I stressed that it is only one manifestation of the larger Jewish question. My proposal received good response.I was also in the holy City of Qum, where I gave lectures at a mosque.

I must tell you about an event of great importance. If you follow the news, you may have heard of Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi's-statement on the so-called "Holocaust". I was there when he made his announcement. It was a great step forward for revisionism. Makarem Shirazi is one-marja'a, that is, he is a Reference, an authority on the Shiite Muslims.

He is a top leader. That means what he says is taken extremely seriously. I see this as another crucial opening for revisionism in the Muslim world. Ahamdinejad, the president has made significant contributions, which are now bearing fruit. A landmark in the history of revisionism was the conference in Tehran year 2006.

MO: Tell me what did Makarem Shirazi say?

AR: Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, suggested what every intelligent person in Europe should say - " I am superstitious about the so-called "Holocaust". It has no scientific basis. When releasing the repression, the truth will get out."

MO: Will Shiites honor to become more receptive to advice revisionists?

AR: Yes, of course. Makarem Shirazi, is someone they look up to and have great respect for. Rightly so, too. His word carries weight. Revisionists can now lean on his authority.

MO: What was your impression of the political situation in Iran?

AR: Iran today is leading the free world's opposition  against Zionism. All free nations, not just Muslims, should support the Islamic Republic. It represents the free world. Every success for Iran is a triumph of freedom, every setback is a setback for freedom.

There are elements in Iran who seek to undermine the Islamic system and the anti-Zionist stance, and they receive support from the U.S. and Israel. I do not regard these elements as an "opposition" because they are controlled by foreign, hostile interests. The 'opposition' is not against the government in Iran, it is against Iran.

The good forces, the anti-Zionists, are led by Seyyed Ali Khamenei. He is a guarantor of the values of the revolution. At its disposal, he has Revolutionary Guard Corps and the so called "basij". He has a solid power base. The majority of Iranians have sound Islamic values. The pro-Western groups are few, decadent, and lacking in popular support. They are a undesirable bacteria.

I am optimistic. The revolution will stand. There is a very good thing in Iran, and it is velayat-e-faqih, which means "the supreme leader watch ", which gives the supreme leader, Imam Ali Khamenei, the power to govern the country in the right direction and protect it from subversion. Using this system you can preserve the revolution. It should not take any steps backwards.

MO: On Friday, the world Quds Day celebrations. Did you participate in the demonstrations?

AR: Yes, of course. It was fantastic! To see so many people on the streets and the protests against the Jewish state made me even more optimistic. It was inspiring. Millions, millions, of people show their opposition to both Zionism and it's connection to Islam. The Quds Day was initiated by Imam Khomeini in 1979 and has since than spread all around the world.

On Saturday, the day I arrived back home, I was shocked, I could not believe I was in Stockholm. We demonstrated outside the Israeli Embassy. I looked around and at the Israeli embassy guards. They were armed with guns.

MO: Guns?

AR: Yes, it seams they can do whatever they want against the law.In Sweden the Zionists are above the law. Their embassy is a more impressive building than the Swedish Cabinet Office - and it has more power.
