GAZA-Regarding the Freedom Flotilla massacre Mahmoud Zahhar, former foreign minister in the Hamas led government, one of the leaders in Gaza and a member of it's politburo, said on Wednesday that he could never expect that the Israelis would open live fire on an humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza.

Zahhar said that he assumed Israeli navy vessels would surround the flotilla as they previously did for a short period until it was forced to change it's course.

During a political seminar in Gaza City, Mr Zahhar also said that his party, Hamas, would win a landslide victory in any future elections.Responding to reports that Hamas movement intention is to make it's formal declaration more likable to please international taste, Mahmoud Zahhar assured that Hamas does not intend to alter it's political platform, or " turn into another Fatah."

Zahhar said that Hamas' principal aim is to end the Israelis over four-decade occupation of Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He also said that the reconciliation with Fatah remained essential, Zahhar emphasised the families who lost it's loved ones in the 2007 conflict, to move forward towards reconciliation. He also said Egypt played a crucial role in the Palestinian internal healing process.

Behind closed doors,on Thursday evening the West Bank, Ramallah based Palestinian Authority has indefinitely postponed the municipal elections scheduled for next month. The change in position, without explanation came on the last day in which electoral lists were allowed to be submitted to the PCE-Commission.

A Fatah leader and former member of the Legislative Council Hussam Khader called for the postponement of municipal elections across the West Bank, scheduled for July 17. "The national interest requires preserving what remains of the Fatah movement, because even if Fatah wins the elections, it will lose the most of it in the long term,"- Khader explained as the reason for his announcement.

Hussam Khader said that there are no guaranties that Fatah will win the election, because the party is weak and in a state of serious dissension . He also said that the approaching summer vote would not indicate the real standing of Fatah's since Hamas decided to boycott the elections anyway.
