Orders of Parliament must be respected. Any opposition party that tries to game Parliament, and thus fatally undermine it, because of short-term partisan considerations, is guilty of aiding and abetting authoritarianism and becomes as illegitimate as the Cons. We will not stand for it. We know all your games. There are good people in every party and government, municipal, provincial and federal, French & English, coast to coast to coast. There are also good people in the media, French & English, local, regional and national. We know a lot, but we try to play fair and only correct the most egregious behaviour. But I said if the Cons declared war on parliamentary democracy, then democrats must declare war on them. Any who aid and abet the Cons will also suffer the consequences. We try to make our reactions proportional to the behaviour. And respecting parliamentary democracy is a red line. If you won't respect it, we won't respect you: you would be illegitimate. We watch. We listen. We remember. And we take numbers. And any and every guilty party would get theirs, sooner or later. Sooner rather than later, though, I think.
We know what you're like. We expected you might want to chicken out. This did not surprise us. Nor this. It is sad that the Bloc is alone in playing these questions straight - they only cheat on QC issues. And to be clear, we're OK with any solution that reestablishes and respects the rights and privileges of Parliament. But Wednesday will mark the 82nd day since the Govt stated it would ignore Parliament's Order. Even if Parliamentary Supremacy is reestablished, gently, there must be at least a symbolic punishment to signify power & legitimacy flows from the bottom to the top, and not the reverse - censure would do.
You know there is no legal issue, Morrison, among others, closed that escape hatch. He also provided other precedents, in addition to our own. But you know this already. If you don't, then read O'Malley, she seems one of the rare people who get it (clever again today, at 9.40 mark).
We know why you're tempted to chicken out. That's no excuse. Graves is right. We hope the Govt accepts its place and there's no election, but if an election is the consequence, then so be it. This is bigger than you, and speaks to democracy's past, and its future.
You've surfed on CAPP. Waves can be dangerous, they can turn and crush and swallow one. Especially if ghosts, like those in Angels & Insects, are taking an interest. Do the right thing, play it straight, and all will be well. Cheat and suffer the consequences.

On an aside, this blog may be largely quiet for a while, as we attend to matters.
