This enraging utterly depressing story, South African Reserve's Last Rhino Butchered for her Horn reminds me of Romain Gary whose fabulous book Les racines du ciel contains some good ideas about dealing with poachers. This interesting person and these guys have good english reviews. The 1958 film with Errol Flynn, Trevor Howard, Orson Wells & John Huston isn't perfect, but it's a pretty good, with Howard doing a decent job embodying the anger one feels:
