Iran FM in 28th anniversary of the Iranian diplomats abducted in Beirut

PalestineFreeVoice - Speaking at an event in Beirut, the 28th anniversary of the four Iranian diplomats who vanished in Beirut, the official Iran claims the abduction was orchestrated by the Israelis.

Concerning the four diplomats, Ahmad Motevaselian, Mohsen Mousavi, Taghi Rastegar Moghadam and Kazem Akhavan, who according to Tehran,was abducted in Beirut, the Iranian official said that; - "Iran's Foreign Ministry will pursue the issue continuously in Lebanon."-

Regarding the question of missile defense shield contract between the US and Poland,the Iranian FM Manouchehr Mottaki said that, -" Nations in the region and the world, do not take Clinton's remarks serious, the issue is between the US and Russia and we recommend them to solve the problem peacefully."Clinton has already claimed that the deal seeks confrontation against "threats from Iran".

Referring to Iran's relationship with Turkey and Brazil, Mottaki said that Iran has contacts with the two countries to set the proper time and place for a trilateral meeting, to review Tehran's declaration. Regarding the place of the meeting, Iran's Foreign Minister said, "it does not make much difference to us, we suggested Tehran as the place of negotiations, we are also ready to hold the meeting somewhere else."

Mottaki added, "Iran's stances have always been clear on the nuclear issue, and the West should correct it's behavior and follow a logical approach."Iran, Turkey and Brazil signed a trilateral declaration on May 17, based on which Iran would send 1,200 kg of its low-enriched uranium stockpile to Turkey, to receive 120 kg of uranium with the purity of 20 percent in return.

World has not done enough to curb Zionist atrocities

According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the Iranian FM Manouchehr Mottaki said on Sunday that the Israelis would not have dared to attack the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, if the United Nations had taken a stronger stance against 'Zionist crimes.' The Iranian Foreign Minister accused the United Nations of neglecting their responsibility to deal with the "atrocities" of the Zionist regime.

Mottaki said he regarded " the Zionists as the worst threat to the Middle East. If the UN had adopted a firm stand against the Zionist's crimes and atrocities in the past, the Zionist regime would not have dared to commit new crimes, such as the targeting and attack of the Gaza aid Flotilla,which resulted in the death of nine Turkish humanitarian peace activist, participants of the fleet".

"The Zionist regime has turned into a source of threat to all nations of the region, endangering peace and security of the world,the inhuman crimes committed by the usurper regime during the past six decades, in the occupied lands of the Palestinian people,as well as in other parts of the region, truly demonstrates the savage nature of this fabricated regime."

The Iranian FM added that; "The Zionist regime has lost its credibility and legitimacy among world nations and is now at the verge of collapse.The Zionist regime like the former apartheid regime in South Africa,is doomed to failure and the nations of the region mainly the Palestinians, will witness the formation of a democratic political system taking place of the Zionist occupant."

Regarding the disappearance of the four Iranian diplomats, Mottaki concluded that evidence collected, has proved that the diplomats "kidnapped by the Zionist regime are held in Israeli jails," Mottaki is urging all Lebanese and Palestinian groups and international organizations to help secure their release.

The American Revolution is still happening

The reading of the Declaration of Independence by members of the reporting staff at NPR gets me every time. Past on-air personalities, some now correspondents at the pearly gates, also read for this decades-old feature. The tears stream down my face right up to the line that begins, " He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare..."

That's when it hits me right between the eyes.

When those words were being written, thousands of cultures inhabited a continent that seemed to keep growing huge ripe plums just waiting for Madison, Jefferson, Hamilton and the rest to pick and pick and pick and pick. Already, the Chesapeake Bay estuary had been mostly denuded of native vegetation, not to mention of its former human inhabitants. Slaves tilled the fields and built the infrastructure, the ancestors of the Lakota and other Siouan groups that had been forced westward out of North Carolina generations earlier, traded with the Spanish and French while forging their own alliances (and marriages) with other indigenous peoples.

So, we've come a long way, init?

Overwhelmed by Oil and Toxic Pollutants: The Destruction of an Entire Coastline

For the people of the Gulf and the region - watching some of the most toxic pollutants known to man, being sprayed to disperse one of the most toxic pollutants known to man, unleashed as a result of man's fallibility, in a near-global addiction to consumerism - it must be an environmental apocalypse now. One dispersant Corexit 9500, is four times as toxic as oil, and also disrupts the reproductive systems of organisms.

There is magic about those sun-sparkled coasts, translucent, shimmering, sapphire sea, later turning peach, apricot, deep blush, then seeming near blackberry as the sun falls and the dusk, then dark, takes over. Then the great pelicans sit sentry, on remains of old breakwaters, sillhouetted against the moon's silvered light.

An all time memory is of the Mexican coast on the Gulf. One day remains apart, on some special mental shelf for treasures, oft taken down, wondered at, minutely re-savoured. Four of us hired a boat for the day, the others wanted to fish for marlin, I to relish the glittering ocean and sun. Lying below the little open wheelhouse, the old, toothless boatman and I quickly formed a bond. His boat was his life, he was an extention of it and it of him. His eyesight was phenominal. "Look, look", he'd say, pointing somewhere into the distant horizon: "tuna .." I could see nothing, but a few miles towards the spot, sure enough, the ocean boiled and churned with the great shoal.

Shark fins often glided along side the boat, their sleek elegance visible below the surface.

Another: "look ..", a pointed, gnarled finger, and there would be the unmistakable spout from a whale, then a great, seemingly ocean-shuddering, roll or two. The Gulf hosts twenty nine marine mammal species, alone, including blue, beaked, fin, dwarf sperm and humpback whale. On 16th June, the first whale, a sperm whale, was found dead off Mississipi. Whales are thought to live up to one hundred and thirty years. The July 1st issue of "Nature" reveals remains of a sperm whale in Peru, thought to be thirteen and a half million years old. The whale is also thought to possibly be the world's oldest species. If the oil industry turns out to be the biggest threat they have ever faced, that will be quite a first.

As ever, the old man of the sea, saw the dolphins before I did : "look, look, look ...." they leapt, in their joyous pairs, in perfect synchrony. As the boat neared, they surrounded it, cavorting in fours, sixes, eights, twelves, higher and higher, over and over. Attempting to capture the images, the lens appeared less than clear, then I realized it was not the lens, but the tears streaming down my face, in response to witnessing overwhelming minutes of beauty beyond imagination. Suddenly, was a certainty of feeling blessed, to understand poet John Gillespie Magee's words : "...in the sunlit silence, put out my hand, and touched the face of God."

Fifty dolphin have so far, been reported found dead. Experts estimate only one tenth of species which die will be washed up. The full toll of big oil's "collateral damage", now, previously and in the future, will likely never be known.

When my friends hauled in a huge marlin, which had fought for its life with wile and valor, the old man of the sea said again: "Look. Watch." The great creature lay in the sun, gasping on the deck, its body glittering all over, in sequin-like, opalescence. "Watch", he repeated. In seconds, the lights started to go out and the magnificent creature became just a very large, dark, lump of flesh. Killing for sport is another obscenity.

As the sun lowered, we headed for the shore. Approaching it, the boatman ("Watch...") put his arms above his head, steering with his knees. Instantly, the sky darkened with birds, appeared seemingly from no where. They called, swooped, rose, fell, circled. He leant in to the bait bucket and threw the remains, bit by bit, in to the air. Every morsel was expertly caught. Not one missed, dropped. The bucket empty, his hands went back on the wheel, the birds did a farewell fly past and departed in to the dusk. In the shallower waters shoals of vibrantly coloured fish, darted between the delicate coral reefs.

Bird species of the region include albatrosses, petrels, shearwaters, frigatebirds, cormorants, gannets, boobies, gulls, terns and skimmers. With temperatures of one hundred degrees and birds becoming oil covered, experts warn they are boiling, alive. The thick, tarry oil, absorbs the heat.

The many turtle species lay their eggs on or near the beach where they were born. Conservationists are removing eggs to unpolluted shores hundreds of miles away, where hopefully they will survive but another extraordinary natural miracle will have been severed. Four hundred and thirty two turtles have been found dead since April.

The Gulf's Loggerhead turtle's hatchlings follow the light of the moon to reach the ocean and swim to safety, away from land's predators, when they emerge from the egg. For the tiny moon followers, the ocean itself has become their ultimate predator.

Inspite of the scale of this environmental death warrant, Louisiana Governor, Bobby Jindal, supports a legal action to reverse the Presidential six month moratorium on deep water drilling, in place to allow time to determine the exact cause of the spill, thus, hopefully, avoiding a repetition. Jindal views the cost in jobs as too high. Oil jobs, that is. And as the hurricane season has moved in with the great winds spreading unleashed deadly pollutants, farther and wider.

Dahr Jamail, in Louisiana, writes of a poignant, differing view. Locals have erected white crosses, each representing something loved and lost: "Family time, crabs, white trout, camping, diving, walking the dog on the beach, sea shells, sea turtles, dolphins, barbecues, shrimp, shark, sand between my toes, boogie boarding, mullet, marsh, palm trees." (Christian Science Monitor, 22nd June 2010.) The crosses will undoubtedly multiply.

Mexico's ancient mariner was utterly in tune with with his universe and all which shared it with him. A reverence a million miles from those who think only to ravage it.

Tuta Absoluta Invasion - Attacks Reported Across Gaza and the West Bank

"Tuta Absoluta" is a devastating pest attacking Palestinian fields in Gaza Strip, and in the West Bank.Tuta Absoluta is considered to be a serious threat to the tomato production in the Mediterranean region. It has it's origin in South America, the pest invasion from South America find on the shores of the Mediterranean a perfect new home where it can breed between 10-12 generations a year. Each female can lay 250-300 eggs in her life time.

These creepy insects are crossing boarders and devastating the tomato production both inside protected greenhouses and on the open fields.The Gaza farmer Ala al-Din Muhammad, say he is fighting the vermin's in a race against time. He saw his own crop of tomatoes, in Marj Ibn Amer, fading away and die before his own eyes, without being able to do something.

Mr Ala al - Din Muhammad say -"Since the beginning of the season, we have noticed that the insects quickly infects the tomatoes at the beginning of maturity and that the fruit was full of worms. We have resorted to spray the field of new nets. The dealers have told us that the new counteract will destroy agricultural diseases including the insects."

"We did not have any previous knowledge about this insect, but as time goes by, we are being informed from dozens of other farmers having the same problem, and that the owners of greenhouses in the "Jezreel Valley" have complained of damaged fruits significantly." Mr Ala al-Din Muhammad say,did not pick more than a third of tomatoes of the expected production from his own land, and he assure that he never before heard of this devastating insect-pest.

Gaza and a new kind of insect invasion

In the besieged Gaza, where attacks from invading creepy insect's has become a horrific part of life and as a result, the impact of devastation on all levels of the society is extremely real, Mr Medhat Abu Shanab from the southern Mzaroath, has also found him self to be victimized by a slow agricultural death, caused by a new strange never seen before insect infesting his tomato farm. The Tuta Absoluta pest insect is attacking an area of three acres of Mr Medhat Abu Shanab's greenhouses. He discovered - when approaching the reap fruits of tomato seedlings, a real destruction penetration of the papers covering the fruits.

Abu Shanab have made contact with many agronomists, whom assured him the need to spray the pesticides Mzaroath. However, the pesticide did not stop the pest invasion. Tuta Absoluta is a very challenging pest to control. Despite suffering heavy material losses,the costs of these pesticides - are more than three thousand shekels - and it has not eliminated the insect but increased the decease, and the Tuta Absoluta is now threatening to devastate the entire agricultural harvest.

Medhat Abu Shanab said he has suffered great losses as a result of this insect invasion, the material losses are some 18 thousand shekels. He is using the advise and the recommendations from the Society of Agricultural Development, and then he resorted to the Ministry of Agriculture, each of them select what type of pesticide to be used. The result was the destruction of the crops and the invasion of this insect, the Tuta Absoluta.

Mr. Abu Shanab say that the insect Tuta Absoluta now is stabilized in the soil, which make it impossible to replant anything. He say, that both the official and the private agricultural, have failed in helping him and other farmers in the area to eradicate the insect. Mr Medhat Abu Shanab concludes,- "the Tuta Absoluta is the most devastating pest I have ever experienced through more than my eighteen years of farming".

The invasion of Tuta Absoluta has become a major concern to most farmers in Gaza and the West Bank, and it could - if not urgently controlled - eliminate the tomato production which would cause heavy economical losses.According to testimony from many of them,the insect also infect eggplant, peppers, potatoes.

The Tuta Absoluta pest invaded the Maghreb countries in 2003, according to Agricultural officials, it was first discovered in Egypt in 2005, then spreed it into the occupied Palestine in 2008, to be discovered in Gaza in the spring of 2010.In Gaza, the Director General of the Prevention and vegetation in the Ministry of Agriculture Engineer Ziad Hamada say that; "It is a fact that the ministry did not hesitate to do what is necessary, to control the spread of this insect, and to take firm measures in this regard, through the committees of Agricultural Engineers appointed for this purpose, he said: "We have a comprehensive inventory of the premises affected, and determine the problem and the treatment, and the development of the proposed solutions, to be able control the spread of this insect in the nearest future. "

FAO warning

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), issued a report warning of an insect, "Tuta Absoluta" which begin to appear in the Gaza Strip, and more prevalent in many other agricultural areas, threatening the agricultural season disaster, a treatment should be provided as soon as possible .

Ziad Hamada commented on the FAO report - which confirmed outbreak of "Tuta Absoluta" in the Gaza Strip, and that it will destroy 90% of the tomatoes harvest this year - that it contains a lot of fallacies, adding that the organization has apologized after he held two extensive meetings with them, during which the members were informed about the full extent of the problem..

Toxins ( Pesticides ) are expensive

According to Youssef Saleh, a merchant and trader of chemical pesticides in Jenin, on the West Bank; "the problem that emerged in the fields of Jenin are serious, the pest is moving between the greenhouses like an epidemic. Part of the problem is the high price of this particular pesticide, the farmers do not have enough money, to most farmers 650 shekels is a too high price to pay. Palestinian farmers can not provide this amount of money in the beginning of the season, and the tomatoes Fund is no longer equal to even a quarter of what the real cost's are."

Advise and assurances

Gaza farmers reassured Ziad Hamada that the spread of this insect in the Gaza sector has not yet reached the stage of the epidemic, calling for them to stay away from indiscriminate use of vehicles and chemicals, especially pesticides, so as to avoid resistance to the insect as a result, with the use of the pesticide at the right time and the right amount. Addressing Hamada Farms, he is saying: "Bug exists, but follow the instructions is the difference between your crops being infected or not," - he is pointing out that the spread of the insect, if it occurs, will reduce the production of tomatoes, and will cause heavy economical losses to the farmers.

There are 4500 to 5000 acres of greenhouses in the Gaza Strip grown annually, and another 3500 to 4000 acres of open land, cultivating the same crop. Ziad Hamad is assuring the citizens that the Tuta Absoluta insect, as far as it is known, is not having an impact on human health, and that the citizens can differentiate between infected and non infected fruit easily, instructing them how to handle the problem: " Just cut of the infected part of the fruit and eat the healthy part, without that it should not affect them negatively."

It would be hard to think of anyone who has done more to undermine American freedoms than Joseph Lieberman...

Since 9/11, the Independent senator from Connecticut has introduced a raft of legislation in the name of the “global war on terror” which has steadily eroded constitutional rights. If the United States looks increasingly like a police state, Senator Lieberman has to take much of the credit for it.

On October 11, 2001, exactly one month after 9/11, Lieberman introduced S. 1534, a bill to establish a Department of Homeland Security. Since then, he has been the main mover behind such draconian legislation as the Protect America

Act of 2007, the Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010, and the proposed Terrorist Expatriation Act, which would revoke the citizenship of Americans suspected of terrorism. And now the senator from Connecticut wants to kill the Internet.

According to the bill he recently proposed in the Senate, the entire global internet is to be claimed as a “national asset” of the United States. If Congress passes the bill, the US President would be given the power to “kill” the internet in the event of a “national cyber-emergency.” Supporters of the legislation say this is necessary to prevent a “cyber 9/11” – yet another myth from the fearmongers who brought us tales of “Iraqi WMD” and “Iranian nukes.”

Lieberman’s concerns about the internet are not new. The United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, which Lieberman chairs, released a report in 2008 titled “Violent Islamist Extremism, The Internet, and the Homegrown Terrorist Threat.” The report claimed that groups like al-Qaeda use the internet to indoctrinate and recruit members, and to communicate with each other.

Immediately after the report was published, Lieberman asked Google, the parent company of You Tube, to “immediately remove content produced by Islamist terrorist organizations.” That might sound like a reasonable request. However, as far as Lieberman is concerned, Hamas, Hezbollah and even the Iranian Revolutionary Guard are terrorist organizations.

It’s hardly surprising that Lieberman’s views on what constitute terrorism parallel those of Tel Aviv. As Mark Vogel, chairman of the largest pro-Israel Political Action Committee (PAC) in the United States, once said: “Joe Lieberman, without exception, no conditions … is the No. 1 pro-Israel advocate and leader in Congress. There is nobody who does more on behalf of Israel than Joe Lieberman.”

Lieberman has been well-rewarded for his patriotism – to another country. In the past six years, he has been the Senate’s top recipient of political contributions from pro-Israel PACs with a staggering $1,226,956.

But what is it that bothers Lieberman so much about the internet? Could it be that it allows ordinary Americans access to facts which reveal exactly what kind of “friend” Israel has been to its overgenerous benefactor? Facts which they have been denied by the pro-Israel mainstream media.

How much faith would American voters have in the likes of Lieberman, who claims that the Jewish state is their greatest ally, if they knew that Israeli agents planted firebombs in American installations in Egypt in 1954 in an attempt to undermine relations between Nasser and the United States; that Israel murdered 34 American servicemen in a deliberate attack on the USS Liberty on June 8, 1967; that Israeli espionage, most notably Jonathan Pollard’s spying, has done tremendous damage to American interests; that five Mossad agents were filming and celebrating as the Twin Towers collapsed on September 11, 2001; that Tel Aviv and its accomplices in Washington were the source of the false pre-war intelligence on Iraq; and about countless other examples of treachery?

In his latest attempt to censor the internet, does Lieberman really want to protect the American people from imaginary cyber-terrorists? Or is he just trying to protect his treasonous cronies from the American people?

Editors note; There are few politicians I dislike so much as the old smiling hippie Joe Lieberman, as both a Democrat, a Republican, a Zionist and a Jew. I just cant find words enough to describe my contempt for this figure. I never believed in a iota what he said, he is a turn coat. Israel's New Master Plan

A few days before his scheduled visit to Washington on 7 July, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu appears as deliberately thwarting American efforts to push forward indirect talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA).

This week, an Israeli government body was set to approve "an unprecedented master plan" for an all-out expansion of Jewish settlements that would effectively -- using the words of one Palestinian official -- "decapitate" East Jerusalem's Arab identity.

The plan would see the building of tens of thousands of Jewish-only apartments in East Jerusalem to be constructed on Arab owned land.

The Jerusalem Municipal Council, controlled by fanatical Jewish radicals advocating ethnic cleansing of non-Jews in the city, is trying to enforce the plan with a discernible green light from the government.

In essence, the plan would leave a zero room for future expansion of Arabs in Jerusalem, as virtually all remaining open space or "green areas" would be used for "Jewish development".

The estimated 270,000 Arab East Jerusalemites are already confined to a mere 13 per cent of East Jerusalem while more than 85 per cent of the city has been seized by Jewish authorities since 1967, when Israel occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank.

According to Palestinian officials, the plan -- if carried out -- constitutes a turning point in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and will surely lead to an early and potentially violent collapse of the shaky and uncertain peace process.

"I don't believe that the peace process will withstand the reported plan to expand Jewish settlement in Jerusalem. In fact, the main goal of that plan is to kill any remaining hope for peace," said Ghassan Al-Khatib, a PA spokesman in Ramallah. "This is more than a provocation. It is actually a decapitation of the peace process."

PA President Mahmoud Abbas told reporters in Ramallah on 29 June that, "We haven't heard from Israel anything that would encourage us to continue negotiating." "We will see what [US Peace Envoy George] Mitchell is carrying with him. If he has positive answers from the Israelis, then we might agree to switch to direct talks. But we have heard nothing from him that would encourage us to keep up the talks."

Mitchell was due to arrive in Ramallah on Thursday 1 July, the latest Israeli settlement expansion schemes expected to top the agenda of talks with Abbas. Since taking up his position as envoy, Mitchell has visited the region 18 times without achieving any real progress.

Israel officials, including Netanyahu, have carefully refrained from elaborating on the plan. Their reticence appears motivated by the desire not to mar Netanyahu's upcoming visit to Washington.

The Israeli media has reported that the Obama administration is frustrated with the slow pace of the peace process, particularly Israeli-PA proximity talks. Washington is urging both sides to switch to direct talks, though no evidence suggests that moving to direct talks would make any difference.

Netanyahu, too, has been demanding that the PA engage in direct talks. However, it is understood that this is posturing intended to give the false impression that the Palestinians are the ones impeding progress to peace. The Israeli premier may also be aiming to divert attention from the plans to radically expand Jewish settlements following the expiration in September of a largely disingenuous moratorium on settlement expansion adopted under US pressure early this year.

On the other hand, Netanyahu seems convinced that the Obama administration is largely a paper tiger and that the powerful Jewish American lobby will be able to defeat the president in any confrontation over Israel. Netanyahu's calculations in this regard don't seem out of touch with reality. A number of senators and congressmen from both parties have already censured the president for "exerting too much pressure on Israel."

Illustrative of Israel's excessive confidence, this week the Israeli government approved a plan to demolish 22 Arab homes in the Silwan neighbourhood in East Jerusalem. The wanton demolitions are part of a larger plan to destroy hundreds of Arab homes in the densely populated Arab neighbourhood. Israel says it wants to build a Talmudic park and other tourist attractions in the area, to make it more "attractive".

Palestinians in East Jerusalem, already exasperated by unrelenting Israeli efforts to narrow their horizons are threatening an all-out uprising.
